not pretty...I know...but I am not ashamed. It goes much lower than you can see here...but this is what is on the outside...the worse is inside the abdomen...but luckily we can't see that!
I read this in a book recently and wrote down the quote...
"A scar does not form on the dying...it means you survived!" (from a book called Little Bee)

Seriously???? With all that trauma to your abdomen and it's still flat with no rolls...must be the tennis pro that you have become.
YOU ARE MY HERO...in more ways than that!
Before my surgery I read an article written by a plastic surgeon. A guy came to him with a request for a scar on his face. A scar, he felt, would send the message to others that he was tough, fearless, a force to be reckoned with. I hope you feel formidable! :)
P.S. The surgeon, of course, declined.
Wowzers, I can only imagine how that feels from how it looks. I'm glad that things are on a slow but steady course upward. You are in our prayers and we love you guys!
You're amazing, Shanda! Mom's surgery was two days ago and she's doing really well. We have to keep telling her to take a break and slow down- I bet you hear that a lot. :) Love you!
I finished Little Bee just recently! Good and intense. If I were you, I would wear a bikini every day. You look super tough : ) That can NOT feel good though. Hope you have a great night's rest. XOXO.
Wow! Shanda! You are a fighter and a survivor!!
After you have beaten this you can wear that scar proudly. It shows how strong you are to fight this illness. I wear my transplant scar proudly. Brian and I think of you often. You are in our prayers.

Wow! I can't believe how long of an incision that was! I can't imagine the pain from that! You amaze! Have you ever heard that song "All about the heart" by Mindy Gledhill? If not you tube it. You will love it! Thinking of you!! Xoxo
