Irony...

This is NOT a flattering picture, but I wanted to show you what is going on.  The black dress masks it a bit and makes it smaller that it actually is, but I think you get the idea.

The irony in this is that I LOOK pregnant on the week that I will be losing all ability to have more children.  In truth, this breaks my heart, but I am always trying to maintain humor and this has struck me as somewhat funny.

These look like maternity photos, but they are just unflattering pictures of me with about 6 or more liters of fluid in my stomach.  Just picture a before of me with a very flat, SIX PACK...and this is the after. :) (more humor..., ha, ha!)

So much beauty and symbolism in this photo for me. White Petunias. For me these will always be Shanda flowers. They bloom and gain strength and vigor all season song. They defy the heat and they are of the very last to be discouraged by winter's frost.
I see a very special warrior princess here too. That thought took me on a journey researching women warriors, princess warriors, and a fascinating list of medieval women warriors.
This photo is my icon (as in Greek, not Computer Science).

Hang in, Shanda. Our bodies can feel like a prison of pain, but you are being so strong. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

For every person that write a comment, just know that there are about 10,000 more out there thinking the same thing. You are so incredibly awesome, amazingly strong and wonderfully powerful! You are talked about so often, and it is always with such a deep respect and awe for who you are, what you are going through and your faith, courage and patience that you will pull through this and be better than you were before-is it possible to be more incredible than YOU already are? The six pack is just an added an added bonus!!! Much love and prayers:)

Just thought I would site Katie Holm, a photographer who used models to depict some women warriors of the past. http://www.ekatieholm.com/women_warriors.htm

Shanda,
Cute dress! :) You definitely have the right attitude. Every time I need a good dose of medicine I can just remember Larry and his dream about Mindy climbing into the bed!!! I hope everything is going well getting prepped for Friday. We are praying hard for you and your doctors. I have a good feeling about this, it will be a big turning point in the right direction to really get rid of the infection so you can heal! Bring on the recovery!

That is the one thing I always tell people that I love about you and your family (Geppert's included)...is your family's ability to have a good time and laugh. It's amazing how humor helps during sad times. I have always loved to laugh and yes (I believe) "laughter is the BEST medicine." As always, I'm praying for you, especially this friday. P.S. love your hair :D
