The night before last...my dear Addie and I were snuggling in my bed. We used to do this all of the time in the morning, but I have been too sick and sore to snuggle for the last few months. She was thrilled to be able to cuddle again and we resumed our usual dialogue. She always asks me to tell her stories about when she was a baby and when I was in the hospital.
I told her a few of her "baby" stories and she said it was her turn. She said she was going to tell me stories of "WHEN I was still her Mommy, and I had long hair, and I was still beautiful." (do I even need to comment on the emotions I felt at that time?~)

Oh Shanda, I can't imagine. You are being an incredible Mom. I wish I had words of comfort or wisdom, but I cannot fathom what you have been through and what you are going through. You are so loved by many. Thank you for keeping us up to date.
It sounds hopeful that you were able to snuggle again!
Awww....I still think you are beautiful.
Heart wrenching!! She loves you so much. I saw that today when I picked her up!
Oh Shanda, I can't even imagine. She will see as she gets older, what a beautiful person you truly are (inside and out), and she is so lucky to have you as her eternal mother!
I recall when one of our granddaughters, at about age three or so, saw me without eye makeup one morning. She gave an odd stare and I said, "I look kind of funny without makeup don't I?" Her reply: "No, you look ugly." She just hadn't learned how to "sugar coat".
You are beautiful -- hair does not make a woman and children are only able to see things in one dimension
god bless the little girl - don't take it personally
i recently cut all of my back length hair off (dreadlocks) after a severe depressive moment- and i was walking in the neighborhood (i now have extensions braids) and a little fiesty 4th grader came up and said "you look better that way" -- i just said "thank you"
they know not the deeper meaning and that makes them blissfully blissfully ignorant- a part of childhood I miss myself.
god bless
